Lecico to launch phase I of new tile plant by year-end

Lecico has announced that it plans to launch the first phase of its new tile plant in Burj-al-Arab by end-2010. Initially, the first phase, with a capacity of 6.5m square metres (sqm) per year, was scheduled to begin operations in Q2 11. The plant is being established through Lecicoquotes 100% owned subsidiary, International Ceramics. Additionally, ceramic tile production in the second phase is expected to commence by mid-2013, with porcelain production slated for 2015. The total capacity of the new plant, at an estimated investment cost of EGP 240m (USD 42m), is 17m sqm per year.
