Botswana: DCI -0.01%, USD 561k

The market ended the day flat on increased vols of USD 561k. Choppies and Letshego accounted for 89% of the day's turnover with 1,122,314 shares trading in Choppies at 167t while Letshego saw 1,418,071 shares trade in the name at 140t. Primetime and Sechaba both traded 1t higher at 194t and 1256t respectively.

Egypt: EGX 30 +0.35%, USD 65m

The market ended the day slightly higher losing some of the positive momentum gained in previous sessions. The EGX30 ended the day up 0.35% to close at 4,628.45 points, volume was weaker than in recent trading sessions with total turnover amounting to USD 65m. As further delays on critical decisions regarding the constitution and the parliament, which led investors to trade the day with a mixed sentiment on the back of uncertainty, local institutions started decrease their exposure in the market, after being aggressive buyer for the last couple of days, yet local retail investors continue to be strong buyers in the market. OTMT managed to buck the general trend, the name lead the market in terms of volumes to end the day up 2.11%, this was mainly attributed to tomorrows EGM meeting were the company is expected approve EGP1.05 dividend.

Investor mix:
•  Foreigners were net Sellers by 24.46 mn EGP and were 21.35% of the market.
•  Egyptians were net Buyers by 8.53 mn EGP and were 71.05% of the market.
•  Arabs were net Buyers by 15.92 mn EGP and were 7.6% of the market.
•  Institutions were net Sellers by 45.05 mn EGP and were 32.67% of the market.
•  Retail were net Buyers by 45.05 mn EGP and were 67.32% of the market.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.02%, USD 9.01m

Extremely active day today with value traded amounting to $9.01m. Equity Bank accounted for more than half of the value traded with foreigners accounting for basically all of the purchases and sales in the name as 19.69m shares traded. SCAN was also very active today thanks to a cross of 750k shares with the buyer being foreign while the seller was local, a total of 1.78m shares traded. Decent amount of activity in Kenya Commercial Bank with foreigners accounting for 94% of purchases as 4.15m shares changed hands thanks to a few large crosses. Foreigners were net buyers and accounted for $7.20m of total purchases while they accounted for $5.61m of total sales. The market closed higher with the NSE 20 Index gaining 0.02% to close at 3,739.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.43%, USD 441k

The market pursued a bearish trend with the Semdex and the Sem-7 down 0.43% and 0.20% respectively. ENL Land lost 1.27% to end the day at Rs38.90. IBL was down 1.88% to Rs78.50. MCB saw 31,681 shares trade at Rs169. NMH remained level at Rs65. SBM was unchanged at Rs82.50. Bramer Banking lost 5.56%, NIT was down 3.23% while Air Mauritius edged down 2.59%. On the Dem side, the index followed the rest of the market, ending 0.29% in the red at 148.96pts.

Nigeria: ASI +1.06%, USD 109.87m

Nigeria opened with a bang today, cross of almost $100m in UBN. UGPL (Union Global Partners Limited) which is a core investor in UBN sold to AMCON as a part of the recapitalization of the bank. Other than the cross the market saw very little activity but managed to make a +1.06% gain with the market opening stronger and this trend persisted until the close. Standout gainers were Sterling Bank +4.63%, DangCem +1.85%, Nestle +5.00% and Guinness +3.64%.

South Africa: Top 40 -0.37%, USD 1.39bn

The JSE ended the day lower with the Top 40 index falling 0.37% to close at 29,683 while value traded amounted to USD 1.39bn. Resources were the day's biggest losers with the Index falling 1.10% followed by Financials which fell 0.40% while Industrials gained 0.37%. The Rand was trading at 8.42 and 10.48 to the USD and EUR respectively by the time local markets closed.

Zambia: LuSE UnCh, USD 8k

Very quiet today with value traded amounting to a dire 8k. The names that traded included BATZ, CECZ, REIZ and SCBL. SCBL was the biggest contributor towards turnover with value traded in the name amounting to USD 4k. REIZ was the second biggest contributor towards turnover with value traded in the name amounting to USD 2k.

Zimbabwe: Industrial Index -0.14%, Mining +2.50%, USD 1.5m

The Industrial index ended the day 0.14% lower at 130.37pts while the Mining's index increased by 2.5% at 76.30pts. 992,256 Delta were traded 65c. Econet saw 128,137 shares trade at 420c. Innscor traded 0.60% lower at 54.40c. Afdis lost 0.50c at 11c. On the mining's side RioZim picked up 1c to 30c while Bindura lost 0.01c at 3.10c on 2,500 shares.
