A better day from a turnover point of view as BIHL, Letshego and Turnstar were the most actively traded names.
The market recouped its eves losses to close up by 0.30%. Foreign investors dominated proceedings (accounted for 54.8% of turnover) as they were mainly net buyers in most names. KCB (-0.8%, KES62), Safcom (+0.3%, KES17.50) and Equity Bank (-1%, KES49) were the most actively traded counters. The most notable laggard was TransCentury as the counter closed down 8.1% at KES 14.15 on the back of 10.5k shares traded.
Turnover was mainly skewed towards MCBG (accounted for 71% of turnover) The counter closed the day up by 0.5% at Rs202.50 on the back 581k shares traded. SBM was once again the most actively traded name as the counter closed unchanged at Rs0.93 after trading a total of 26.9m shares. Other movers included Ciel (+0.3%, Rs6.82), Terra (+1.0%, Rs31.10) and Lux (0.9%, Rs58.50).
During the early stages of the session a significant cross went through in Nestle (1m shares at N1,034). The counter closed the day down by 1.50% (N935.75) after trading a total of 1.9m shares. The Consumer index closed the day soft after shedding 0.70% due to losses in the likes of Guinness (-0.59%, N169), Nestle and NB (0.63%, N157). The Banking index had a better day, closing up by 0.30% despite recording losses in most names. The most actively traded names were GTB (0.87%, N28.60), UBA (unch, N5.22), Zenith Bank (-0.28%, N21.30), Nestle and Seplat (-0.02%, N379).

Healthy turnover was attributed by trades in Delta, Econet and Seedco trading a total of 810k, 503k and 545k shares to close at 105c, 48.5c and 93.99c respectively.
