A dire end to the week in Gaborone as turnover amounted to $59k.
A much better day to end the week in Nairobi as turnover amounted to $12.2m with foreigners dominating proceedings yet again. A large cross in EQBNK right at the close boosted activity as a total of 10.5m shares traded with the bank coming under some serious pressure and closed -4.3% lower. KNCB (-1.0%) also took some strain after releasing H1 2015 numbers yesterday as 6.39m shares traded in the name. Safcom was another big name to take a beating today as the telco fell -3.7% on 15.6m shares. EABL released FY 2015 results before the open which the market seemingly liked as the brewer gained +3.2% on 578k shares.
Some life in the Indian Island market with MCBG dominating proceedings. MCBG rose by 70bps to Rs225.00 (all-time high).
An extremely dull day to end the week in Lagos as turnover amounted to $10.7m with no large crosses on the day. There was a small bit of activity in GTB ($3.30), Zenith ($1.34m) and Access ($1.33m) while the rest of the market was very quiet. Banks took some serious strain with the sector falling -2.37% thanks to FBNH (-4.43%), Access (-4.22%) and GTB (-3.40%). Guinness (-5.00%) and UACN (-5.00%) closed limit down and were drags on the consumer sector (-0.67%).
