The Nigerian market showed some decent signs of life today although a large chunk of this ($21m) was a bookover in Zenith. Market sentiment still remains weak with both the Banks (-1.08%) and the Consumers (-1.70%) closing in the red. Outside of the large Zenith (-1.82%, N17.80) the banks were extremely quiet with most names losing ground during the session. Consumers were dragged lower by NB (-3.67%, N128.60) after the brewer announced poor H1 results earlier in the day. There was also chunky action in the likes of Wapco (-1.96%, N100.00), UACN (unch, N41.00) and Forte Oil (+9.37%, N196.87).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
