A better day in Gaborone, but still nothing to write home about as turnover amounted to $111k thanks mostly to Letshego.
Another dull day in Nairobi ahead of US President Obama’s visit. Foreign investors accounted for 54% of the total turnover and were skewed to the buy side (61%). The most active name was Safcom which saw a couple of crosses go through at KES15.50 before closing the day at KES15.45 (-64bps). NMG also saw a couple of crosses (mostly local buying and foreign selling) as the media group gained 2.19% to KES187.00. Among the banks we saw action in KNCB (-90bps, KES55.00) and Co-Op (unch, KES20.75) while Equity Bank also saw some late activity (-4.49%, KES42.50). Please note that the market will be closing early tomorrow (12pm local time).
A rather average day in Port Louis as turnover amounted to $940k with MCBG (70k shares) accounting for most of the activity while SBMH (7.8m shares) was very quiet.
A rather dull day yet again in Lagos with a chunky cross in Nestle ($8.5m) the main highlight. Outside of this and a couple of crosses in Wapco and NB the market was dead. Banks closed marginally positive with only GTB (+20bps, N25.31) seeing any action. The consumers fell by 21bps with Nestle (unch, N850) and NB (-88bps, N129.00) the most active names in the sector. Wapco (-50bps, N99.00) saw a decent cross shortly before the close.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A much better day in Harare as turnover amounted to $1.43m thanks to some action in Econet ($854k), Delta ($178k) and NatFoods ($167k).
