A much better day in Gaborone thanks to some decent activity in Turnstar (3.3m shares) and Choppies (2m shares).
Not much on the go in Nairobi today as foreigners accounted for 70% of activity. Safcom was the most active name on the day as the telco came under foreign selling pressure and closed -0.3% lower. EABL also closed lower on foreign selling with the brewer falling -0.3% on 287k shares. The two major banking stocks ended the day mixed with EQBNK closing unchanged while KNCB fell -1.3%.
Another rather average day in Port Louis with some activity in MCBG and SBMH driving proceedings as 45k shares and 9.7m shares changed hands in the names respectively while the rest of the market was very quiet.
The profit taking continued across the entire ASI again with almost every stock closing in the red. Banks (-6.62%) were particularly hard hit with most Tier 1 names spending the day net offered at limit down. Activity was focused on ETI (-9.58%, N16.32), FBNH (-9.40%, N3.95), Zenith (-9.65%, N14.98) and GTB (-5.24%, N19.53). Consumers (-2.79%) followed suit with only NB (-4.93%, N135.00) seeing any decent volumes.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Another decent day from an activity point of view with some action in Innscor ($648k) and Simbisa ($420k). We are hearing that most of the buying is being done by locals as they look to move from cash into equities ahead of the Zimbabwe Bond Note issue.
