Some activity in FNBB (2.7m shares) got the week off to a decent start in Gaborone while the rest of the market was rather quiet.
A painfully dull session today as foreign participants remain on the sidelines. The main action went through in Safcom (+30bps, KES17.35), Carbacid (+1%, KES15.00) and EqBnk (-60bps, KES40.00). The rest of the market was effectively shut with some technical issues on the NSE not helping matters.
A dull start to the week in Port Louis. The most active stock was in fact PBL which gained 5.7% to Rs355 on aggressive foreign buying. MCBG also rose to Rs212.00 (+1%).
Another positive day in Lagos although foreign investors still largely absent from the market. Banks rose by 1.85% with decent action seen in GTB (+2.51%, N19.20), Zenith (+2.24%, N15.03) and Access (+7.87%, N5.21). Consumers closed 1.69% in the green although volumes were quiet in the sector. In other news, there are proposed amendments to the pricing methodology on the NSE. As it currently stands there are 2 Groups: Group A whereby for stocks valued above N100 the minimum quantity of shares to change a price is 10k shares, and Group B for stocks under N100 whereby 50k shares are needed to change the price. The proposal is to introduce a Group C for equities between 1 kobo and N5. This group would need a minimum of 100k shares to print to change a price. There will also be an introduction of a tick size – Group A (10 kobo), Group B (5 kobo) and Group C (1 kobo).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Some tiny action in First Mutual Holdings ($86k) the onlly name worth mentioning on a dire day in Harare.
