Outside of some chunky crosses in Choppies (397t) the market was extremely quiet.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.08%, USD 15.9m

Foreign participation increased dramatically thus lifting overall market activity to good levels. The most notable foreign action was on the buy side of KNCB as the banking group gained 80bps to KES60.50 although most of the volume went through at KES61.00. There was also decent activity in the likes of EABL (+1.9%, KES325) and Diamond Trust Bank (+40bps, KES241). Safcom (+1%, KES15.90) and Equity Bank (unch, KES52.00) also saw fairly decent trading.

A massive cross in Gamma Civic (5.7% of issued capital) was almost the entire volume in Port Louis. There was some mild activity in MCBG (-10bps, Rs196.50).

Nigeria: ASI -0.65%, USD 16.4m

Another painfully quiet day in Lagos although a couple of crosses helped volumes higher. The only trades worth noting was crosses in Access (-8.49%, N5.82), DangCem (-52bps, N152.00) and NB (-76bps, N131.00). On the back of low volumes the market continues to soften as we saw banks fall by 1.32% while consumers shed 49bps.

Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.

Some mild activity today in the large caps although the general market sentiment remains apathetic. The crosses took place in Delta (109c) and Econet (52c) while there was a small cross in CBZ (10c).
