Some local action in NAP and RDCP the only trading today in Gaborone.
Things slowed down in Nairobi, but activity was still relatively respectable with Safcom ($3.6m) accounting for the lion's shares of turnover as the telco closed +2.5% higher after releasing FY 2017 numbers yesterday. Unfortunately there was sporadic activity in a few other names with nothing worth reporting on. KNCB closed the day +0.7% higher on low volume after releasing Q1 2017 results.
Another strong day in Mauritius as MCBG continues to pump. The banking group rose by a further 2.6% to Rs240.00 on chunky volumes. There was also some activity in Alteo.
Activity continued to improve in Lagos today, thanks once again to action in a few names with the likes of DangCem ($4.7m), Nestle ($3.3m), Zenith ($2.7m), GTB ($2.3m) and Flour Mills ($1.7m) leading the way. Banking stocks continued to power ahead with the sector closing +4.00% higher with good moves in Zenith (+4.97%) and GTB (+4.97%). Consumer stocks (+3.32%) also had a solid day thanks to Flour Mills (+5.08%).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Action returned to the ZSE today although foreign participants remain largely absent. There was some trading in the likes of CBZ (9.54c).
