A relatively average day in Gaborone as value traded amounted to $466k with some small activity in FNBB, Barclays and Sefalana.
A sub par day in activity terms with foreigners dominating proceedings (ca. 70%) as turnover amounted to $6.1m. Foreign sellers put pressure on Safcom as the telco fell -1.0% on 8.37m shares. EABL came under a bit of pressure as foreigners dominated both sides with the brewer falling -2.6%. Both major banks closed lower with EQBNK falling -1.2% while KNCB fell -1.0%.
Another solid day from an activity point of view in Port Louis as turnover amounted to $1.80m thanks mostly to some crosses in MCBG as 186k shares changed hands in the counter while SBMH (8m shares) was rather quiet.
A better day in Lagos but still nothing to write home about as turnover amounted to $20.05m thanks to some blocks in Zenith ($6.24m), GTB ($3.58m), NB ($2.47m) and Nestle ($1.02m). It was a rather bleak picture in the banking sector as the Index fell -2.93% with heavy losses in UBA (-8.31%), FBNH (-4.91%) and GTB (-4.04%). Zenith released H1 2015 numbers after the close. Consumers (-0.54%) were also softer thanks to Guinness (-4.72%) and NB (-1.19%).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Some action returned to the Harare bourse today. The bulk of the activity returned in the 2 big names. These included Econet (28.99c) and Delta (94.72c).
