A solid day in Gaborone thanks to a cross in Choppies as 1.69m shares changed hands while there was also some action in Letshego (1m shares).
A better day in Nairobi but activity still did not shoot the lights out with turnover amounting to $7.2m as foreigners dominated proceedings. KNCB closed the day -1.1% lower on foreign selling while EQBNK (-3.9%) came under some serious selling pressure from both foreigners and locals. Safcom managed to close +0.4% higher after a few days of heavy selling with foreigners dominating purchases in the telco.
Another apathetic day in Port Louis as nothing ever got going. The lack of interest was palpable as the index just dripped lower throughout the day. Both MCBG (-60bps, Rs209.75) and SBMH (-1.2%, Rs0.84) closed the day lower.
A rather uneventful day in Nigeria as the market didn’t really know what to do. Outside of some action in Zenith (-72bps, N13.75), GTB (+3.50%, N20.70) and NB (+5bps, N110.20) the market was painfully quiet. Most names didn’t even move the needle and this was reflected with the banks and consumers both closing only marginally in the green.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Another pathetic day in Harare as the index continues its slow descent. There were no large and interesting trades to note.
