A dull day in Gaborone, nothing much to write home about.
Local investors were by far the bulk of today’s action. The most active name today was Safcom which closed unchanged at KES 13.00 while local action in Scan (-1%, KES 48) and Diamond Trust Bank (+40bps, KES 238) were also quite high. Equity Bank (unch, KES 40.25) and KNCB (+50bps, KES 47.75) were both relatively quiet while EABL was extremely dead.
A quiet day in Port Louis as the Sem-7 inched higher. Gains were recorded in SBM (+95bps, Rs1.06), Terra (+83bps, Rs36.25) and IBL (+97bps, Rs104). Losses were recorded in Alteo (-14bps, Rs34.45) and ENL Land (-50bps, Rs50.25).
Local investors once again dominated the Lagos bourse. As with all African markets today, foreign investors were largely subdued. There were some chunky volumes traded in UACN ($7m), Zenith ($5m) and NB ($2m). Banks gained an impressive 1.08% with strength across the entire sector. ETI once again performed well (+2.95%, N15.70) although it was ably supported by Access (+4%, N9.70). Consumers took a big knock (-85bps) with a late sell-off in NB (-1.69%, N173.03) and Unilever (-2.71%, N48.19) the main drags on the sector. Oando took another hiding and lost a further 5.1% to N18.05 on good volumes.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A monotonous tone to proceedings in Harare this morning. As was the case with most African markets today, foreign participation was very minimal. Notable gains were made in Natfoods (+4.5%, 210c) and Seedco (+1.4%, 71.01c) while Econet dipped marginally to 64c and Delta closed unchanged at 115c.
