Botswana: DCI +0.10%, USD 1.63m

A better day in Gaborone thanks to crosses in Turnstar (3.81m shares) and Choppies (1.84m shares) as turnover amounted to $1.63m.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.30%, USD 34.8m

An absolutely mammoth day in Nairobi today as total value traded amounted to a very impressive $34.8m thanks to a large local cross of KNCB as 23.43m shares changed hands in the name. There was also quite a bit of local activity in EQBNK as 13.05m shares traded over the day. There was some foreign activity in Safcom as 45.89m shares traded with the telco falling -0.4%. Local investors drove proceedings in Diamond Trust Bank as 660k shares traded.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.02%, USD 520k

A very dull day in Port Louis as turnover amounted to $520k with market heavyweights MCBG and SBMH very quiet.

Nigeria: ASI -2.30%, USD 18.2m

Another slow day in Lagos as turnover amounted to $18.2m with some activity in the likes of FBNH ($3.12m), GTB ($2.88m), Zenith ($1.66m) and Nestle ($1.49m). Banks took another beating with the Index falling -2.76% thanks to UBA (-4.74%), FBNH (-4.43%), Zenith (-3.41%) and GTB (-2.72%). Consumers (-1.18%) were also under pressure with NB (-3.34%) and Unilever (-2.94%) dragging the sector lower. Market heavyweight DangCem closed -3.96% lower.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.14%, USD 356k

An extremely slow day in Harare as turnover amoutned to $356k with some small activity in DAWN ($144k) the only name worth mentioning while the market closed lower with the Industrial Index falling -0.14%.
